The WHUMP of mortars going off startles me awake; where am I??
I take a breath and OH…..yes. Ski patrol is blowing avalanches.
Mortar fire here does not mean the apartments across the road are being shelled and I do not have to grab my cat to run for cover.
I do not have to wonder if family members are safe, or if the stores have any food or if my phone will work.
Or if I will survive the day.
I am not a Russian mother wondering at the lies told by Putin’s machine about how and where my son died.
He and his cowardly, bullying cronies do not care about anyone other than themselves.
He is killing civilians with mortars and missiles as they flee; shelling homes and other non-military targets.
