Not very original, I know, but I had to kick the heat on this morning and this happened, so it’s true. The first yellow leaf of Autumn.
Summer dawdled through a damp and cool June. In July it exploded into two months of fast and furious outdoor activities. I am always rather wupped by Labor Day because August is exhausting.
Thunder and rain woke me up at 3am and it was still raining when I got up for the day. There wasn’t actually a sunrise this morning; it just became less dark. For the first time in months I was trapped inside with my morning coffee.
Going outside my comfort zone again
I used the time to make a FaceBook page to promote my book “Buc Buc, Mama Duck!” and am patting myself on the back. But only a little bit because…woah…did I do it correctly?
I didn’t grow up with computers and continue to have the sense of impending doom when I hit “Enter” as I think I might get sucked into the dark web (hasn’t happened yet). The same as I hit “Delete”; I think I will obliterate everything I have just written (has happened more often that it should).
I suppose it’s the computer equivalent of traveling in unfamiliar territory. Make a wrong turn and ~poof~ you end up Somewhere You Are Not Supposed To Be. That’s how I found myself outside the police station on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota at 11:30 one Friday night.
It’s a long story.
Anyway, the grey morning is gone and the afternoon doesn’t look like it will be much different.
I *hope* I have done the page correctly. I want to send the story of Sally and her babies out into the world. It’s a sweet book and it was a joy to create. Julia Lance of Lance Imaging made drinking mugs from two of the illustrations so now I need to figure out shipping. One of the ducklings would be so cute as a stuffed animal so I have emailed JellyCat about doing these. Fingers crossed.
So follow me like Sally’s babies followed her. We might take a detour but it will be fun nonetheless!
